Fish Graphic Description:

This fish graphic was to serve as introductory practice for utilizing drawing tools in Microsoft Word to demonstrate and promote material for future use. The skills used in this project were the foundation of creating advertising flyers or informational graphics. The project itself instructs those who read it to mimic the items shown, such as drawing balloons, creating fish, and designing text boxes.

Infographic Description:

I designed this infographic because it was to inform possible students of how to say "I love you" to various family members and friends. It was created around Valentine's Day so that is why it is theme-specific. The infographic displays the signs of I LOVE YOU, MOTHER, FATHER, FRIEND, GRANDMA, GRANDPA, BROTHER, and SISTER. This project was the first one I made that was fitting for ADA accommodations.

Photos Video Description:

This is a compilation of pictures organized in a way that displays the introductory signs in a categorical manner. The reason there is no audio attached to the video is because it is implied that there is going to be complimentary vocal instruction. This was created to provide kindergartners with the basic information of signing to help communicate with those with hearing impairments or being deaf.

Presentation Description:

This is a Powerpoint presentation created to be used as supporting visual material for a classroom where I teach the children how to sign important phrases and questions to help provide better conversation for those who use ASL. It is designed with ADA formatting and contains visual elements that should be equally accessible to all students, regardless of their disabilities. The presentation goes through the 5 W's and an H, Manners, Actions, Adjectives, Instructions, Names, and Family signs that are Kindergarten grade level appropriate.

iMovie Description:

Pets in ASL is a movie I created in the iMovie program to demonstrate skills in creating projects with the program. I made the specific purpose of the movie to be providing suitable material for Kindergarteners to properly be instructed to sign the most common pets such as dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, and fish. This is to be used in a manner where students can use it to help practice their signs and add it to their knowledge of ASL.

iMovie Rationales:

InTASC: Standard #8: Instructional Strategies.

I used plenty of strategies within the movie to help the children learn ASL by using several copies of the same image repeatedly then using the sign for the image after each picture. I prompt the children to repeat the sign whenever the image is shown to help engage them with the movie in an interactive way. At the end of the video, I wrap up all of the signs with my own clip so the children can repeat the signs consecutively.

ISTE-S: Standard #7: Global Collaborator

The content of the movie is to provide a more domestic understanding of how to use the signs in the student's everyday life. By using pets as the topic of the project, the students can use the signs to refer to everyday sightings of domesticated animals so they become more immersed into using ASL which can help fluency with the language. The video can be recalled later for children to use again to help practice with practical signs.

ISTE-E: Standard #6: Facilitator

My project was to allow the children to take the topic and learning into their own hands. The students are experiencing ASL as a new form to communicate with not just their family and peers but members of the Deaf community as well. Since ASL is a literal hands-on form of communication, it is important to incorporate learning it with regular curriculum to help connect with those that are hard of hearing or deaf.

iBook Story Book Description:

We're Amazing, 1, 2, 3! is a children's Sesame Street book I obtained by attending an Autism Expo where they were handing them out for free. It is about Elmo's experience with Julia, a child diagnosed with ASD, and Abby's introduction to the Spectrum to help demonstrate what Autism is and how to properly and effectively communicate with children with Autism. The entire book is digitized by me because it is important that children that require accommodations have access to it.

iBooks Custom Curriculum Book Description:

I created Talk to the Hands! to gather and summarize all of my previous projects about ASL. The book is targeted for Kindergarteners where they can refer to it throughout their school year to compliment the rest of the lessons about sign languages.

The entire book is for digital use because it involves my videos and presentations that are mentioned above.

InTASC:  Standard #4: Content Knowledge

I believe this standard works best for this book because I have made plenty of tools and resources to help the child retain the information through a series of widgets while connecting to the child’s personal life. I provided all of the basic tools and signs to build a basis of understanding American Sign Language such as, the alphabet, simple manners, and how to sign different animals. The pictures used are simplistic enough to prevent any kind of misunderstanding for what the signs are trying to portray. This book was tailored to help any child start their path on learning what ASL is and how to start using it.

ISTE-S: Standard #3: Knowledge Constructor

There is plenty of digital tools within this curriculum to help build a basis of information about American Sign Language. The whole purpose of this book is to enrich children to a world and a language bigger than their own so they can help communicate with their peers and community around them. Students can now help destroy language barriers between them and their fellow students so they can build a better future. Hopefully, the children would take this information to further their interest and develop fluency with ASL to make academics equal for all.

ISTE-E: Standard #5: Designer

I put a lot of effort into each and everyone one of my projects in this book and I believe that they may not be perfect but I know that real dedication went into it. I genuinely designed each project to be equally informative as well as visually pleasing for the Kindergarten level. I wish to keep making similar projects but of higher quality to ensure that my students get the best education that I can provide.
